GL vs SRH

Today we have 2 teams who aim for their first IPL final in today’s qualifier. Gujarat Lions never looked like a debutant from the start. There has been enormous understanding among the players and they have gelled well from the word go. They have one of the most enviable batting line ups in this season with big names like Raina, Mc cullum, Finch & Smith who comprises the formidable four. Luckily for GL’s all of them have chipped in throughout the season. GL by topping the table has shown enormous consistency throughout the season.

GL’s weak link would be their bowling line up. The few failures which they had should be attributed to the inability of their bowlers to defend few low scores this season. Also the batsmen to be equally blamed because their failure happens collectively.

SRH on other hand has grown up the ranks in IPL 9 and the main reason for that being their bowlers. The bowling line up which SRH has is anytime a captains delight to have with players like Bhuvaneshwar, Mustafizur, Henriques & Boult. I’m surprised that players like Boult are warming the benches such is the combination of bowlers they have in their squad. David Warner was spoilt for choices throughout the season in selecting his playing XI.

David Warner was in good form and been amongst the runs. He was One amongst the Top 3 in the batting charts and will be a player to watch for. On the flip side Bhuvaneshwar is topping the bowling charts with the Orange cap. If both of them fire in tandem then SRH win is on the cards . Apart from them we have other key players like Yuvraj Singh who has started firing towards the fag end of the tournament.

So far in this tournament both teams has met twice and in both instances it was SRH which beat GL. On both occasions SRH bowling was impeccable , especially Bhuvaneshwar had a good outing in bowling to GL batsmen. Both the instances SRH chose to chase and they did it successfully.

Kotla pitch will be bit challenging with the odd delivery holding up. Typically it will be a win the toss and bat first will be the choice of the captain.

All said, it would be a mouth watering qualifier 2 on the cards with two well deserved teams locking horns. I would be eager to see on who takes the upper hand .
